Giovanni Boniolo

GIOVANNI BONIOLO (doctoral degree in Physics and in Philosophy) is Full Professor of Philosophy of Science and Medical Humanities at the Department of Health Sciences (University of Milan). He is the Director of the Biomedical Humanities Unit at the Department of Experimental Oncology (IEO, Milano) and of the PhD program in “Foundations of the Life Sciences And Their Ethical Consequences” at the European School of Molecular Medicine (Milano). He is the Director of the “Master in Ethical Counseling in Oncology”, realized by the European School of Oncology (ESO).  He is member or chair of several ethical committees both at Italian and European level. In the applied ethics field he is working on public decision-making and ethical deliberation; individual decision-making and ethical counseling; trust based consent for patients. He is Series Editor of Springer Briefs on Ethical and Legal Issues in Biomedicine and Technology. His work is witnessed by 13 books (plus 12 books edited) and about 190 papers, most of them published in international peer reviewed journals. His three latest books:
1) The Art of Deliberating. Democracy, Deliberation and the Life Sciences between History and Theory, Springer, Heidelberg 2012;
2) Le regole e il sudore. Divagazioni su sport e filosofia, Raffaello Cortina Editore, Milano 2013 (Awarded by the Italian Olympic National Committee as the 2014 best book on sport).
3) (with P. Maugeri), Etica ai confini della biomedicina. Per una cittadinanza consapevole, Mondadori Università, Milano 2014.
