On 20-21 August of 2017 the Center for the Study of Bioethics, the Division of Medical Ethics in NYU School of Medicine´s Department of Population Health and The Hastings Center jointly organized the international conference “Genome editing: biomedical and ethical perspectives”. The lecturers were the world’s leading experts in bioethics. The keynote speech was delivered by Professor Arthur Caplan. Professor Vojin Rakić, Director of the Center for the Study of Bioethics, opened the conference. Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, welcomed the participants, noting that she is proud that the Center for the Study of Bioethics hosts events that gather the world’s leading experts and scientists.

The conference titled ”Emerging Technologies in Healthcare” was organized by the Center for the Study of Bioethics in partnership with the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Healthcare (ESPMH). There were over 100 attendees, mostly philosophers, physicians and lawyers. The opening speech was held by Professor Vojin Rakić, Director of the Center for the Study of Bioethics, and Professor Christoph Rehmann-Sutter, President of the European Society for the Philosophy of Medicine and Healthcare. Their speeches were followed by a keynote lecture of Professor Nicholas Agar, University of Wellington. The conference panels were held from 16th to 19th August 2017, simultaneously in seven different halls.
