Dr. Ana Katić is a philosopher and researcher whose work spans the philosophy of biology, philosophy of science, epistemology, astrobiology, and bioethics. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at the University of Belgrade and was conferred her PhD in February 2025 for her dissertation, The Path to the Superorganism: Evolutionary Integration of Biological Functions and Its Philosophical Significance. Her research scrutinizes the evolving nexus between evolutionary theory and philosophical inquiry. Specifically, she interrogates the nature of emergence in biological systems, the epistemic function of scientific models and fictions, the ontological ramifications of astrobiology, and the moral relevance of extraterrestrial intelligence. She served on the organizing committee of the international conference Philosophy of Ksenija Atanasijević and was the editor of its book of abstracts (May 26–27, 2022, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, and University of Belgrade, Belgrade). From 2019 to 2025, Ana Katić was engaged in teaching courses such as Philosophy of Science 2 at the University of Belgrade, where her commitment to cultivating critical and cross-disciplinary thought has garnered recognition. Her scholarly contributions have appeared in numerous esteemed international journals.
