Janko Nešić (1985) received his doctor of philosophy degree in 2015 at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, with a dissertation entitled “Mental causation problem: dispositional theory solution”. He was a visiting postdoctoral scholar at the University of Fribourg in 2016. He received the Oxford University Essay Prize for Eastern European Perspectives on Science, Theology and Humane Philosophy in 2019. He was granted the European Philosophy of Science Association Fellowship to visit the University of Stockholm in 2019. In May 2022, he completed a short research stay at the Department of Psychiatry, University Clinic of Heidelberg). He worked as a Research Associate on the Sciences of the
Origin Project (funded by the John Templeton Foundation) from 2020 to 2022.
He participated in several courses: Central European University Summer School ‘Mind, Matter, and Consciousness’, Copenhagen Summer School in Phenomenology and Philosophy of Mind, CIFAR Neuroscience of Consciousness Winter School, and Bochum Situated Cognition Spring School. He has published in national and international philosophical journals and presented at numerous conferences. His research is on topics from the Philosophy of Mind, Phenomenology, and Philosophy of Psychiatry. He focuses on studying pathologies of intersubjectivity in autism spectrum disorder and building an integrative approach to autism that combines phenomenological, enactivist, ecological and neuroscientific perspectives. He also works on technological applications in mental health care.
